Casa BF. Borriol, Castellón
The house is located on a 3,000 m2 plot of land with a 25m incline, stone terraces and leafy woodland. The design was that of absolute respect for the environment. Construction had to have no impact on the surroundings therefore a mainly prefabricated construction system was chosen and placed on the site practically without affecting anything, without cutting down trees, and taking advantage of the existing terraces, whose damaged areas were reconstructed using the same stone and same technique. Part of the house – the garage and auxiliary areas – is buried in the ground, and the terrain restored above using native vegetation.
A metal structure was chosen, factory-manufactured and transported to site in large pieces that were assembled on 3 double metal pillars in the shape of a V, In the large front space, comprising the kitchen, dining room and main bedroom, the construction system is visible. On view are both the pillars and roof structure, formed by metal rafters that support a profiled sheet above which the roof is constructed. Painted all in white and lit by integrated LED bulbs, to give the same luminous feeling as natural lighting.
The intermediate patio allows access below the house and at the same time all the rooms face the sun and views. The house revolves around the patio, giving complete access throughout. It is a house with patio, and other connotations. It is the hub; it provides various views; it connects all areas and creates a house with a great deal of space, but is not accessible nor located on the same level as the house: it does not enclose the house since it flows beneath it..
