1 – Who is Jordan Goldstein?

A collaborative architect who loves the constant inspiration from being an integral part of a global design firm.
A teacher who believes in nurturing the next generation of architects.
An engaged father and a compassionate husband.

2 – When did you discover that you wanted to be an architect?

When I was 5 years old, playing with legos, inspired by my parents search for a new family home.

3 – A reference in architecture…

Fallingwater.

4 – If you had not been architect, you would have been…

Guitar player in a rock band.

5 – One defect and one virtue.

Defect and virtue: perfectionist.

6 – What is your house like?

A modern, light-filled home with a largely open floor plan, where spaces blend together and there’s ample room for kids to play and my family to be together.

7 – Sunday is a day for…

Family time and a pause from the action of the work week.

8 – A place to look for inspiration.

The rolling fields and picturesque mountains of Rappahannock County, Virginia.

9 – What is the last book that you have read?

“All The Light That We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr.

The ability for design to transform environments.

12 – Pencil or computer?

13 – How would you describe your work?

A “warm” contemporary architecture that tells a story through the integration of natural light, a clear organization of space, and minimalist detailing.

14 – One project you would like to do.

Design a new city.

15 – Your opinion of Spanish architecture.

As a student, I was inspired by the work of Gaudi. I remember being struck by the uniqueness of his vision and the power of his structures.

Listen to the client’s goals. Craft a vision that blends their vision with a differentiated design concept. Take them on a journey.

17 – In architecture, what are you better at and what do you have more trouble with?

I’ve gotten much better at editing and striving for greater simplicity in my work.

18 – Your recipe for success.

Hire great people. Create a fun environment that fosters innovation. Work really hard.

19 – What is the role of natural products in your projects?
