At Wood Lovers we believe in sustainable management which helps to preserve the future of the planet’s environment. The lungs of the world are green and made up of thousands of trees which are needed to keep them going. The Earth’s ecosystem sustains life at the same time as maintaining the balance of diversity, meaning that preserving the forests and making a sustainable use of its natural elements is very important for our future.
Natural wood, a sought after commodity
The uncontrolled destruction of forests has had serious consequences for the environment. The loss of nutrients from the earth, the extinction of natural ecosystems, the deterioration of the climate, the erosion of the soil or droughts are all the result of a lack of diligence when managing natural resources. Among these, wood is one of the most sought after elements, but only 30% of that which is cut down ends up being sold. The rest is discarded due to the lack of control and regulation.
Furthermore, even though wood is one of the most reusable elements in nature, the little that is commercialised has a short life before being scrapped, in spite of its numerous biodegradable properties which allow it to be recycled and survive over time in perfect condition.
Filling the world with trees
To adapt to frenetic human consumption, there are diverse kinds of reforestation dedicated to planting trees in the barest areas. The mission of the non-profit making organisation Trees for the future is to sow the Earth with trees. Since the beginning of the 70s they have been helping to fight against industrial pollution by planting 50 million trees thanks to thousands of donations.
The mission of organisations like this one is to promote the sustainable use of resources and guarantee a safe and respectful extraction of the material. By using it responsibly, wood can continue to be a useful resource for us. At Wood Lovers we want to keep the Earth Green, will you help us?
