Pepita de Oliva and Jorge Herrera Studio have something in common: their fantastic use of wood. Why them and not others? Because in both cases they use wood as a base material in their projects. This is why we wanted to dedicated a special post to these two studios, taking stock of the year that has just gone and looking towards the future by paying special attention to the new wood-related designs due in the year to come. Happy New Year Woodlovers!
Pepita de Oliva, the interior design studio located in Galicia, which takes its name from a Spanish ballerina from the beginning of the XX century, stood out in 2016 for working in a vintage Nordic style and for working on the interior design of various celebrities’ houses. This is the case of Gala Gonzalez & Pepita de Oliva who fused their designs perfectly. Here are some pictures of the blogger’s house in New York to remind you.
Mercedes de las Heras and Nuria García Montiel have both designed spaces in A Coruña and Miño using furniture from Pepita de Oliva. These designs have ended up on the front pages of the most famous magazines in the interior design world. What is the reason for its success? Hand carved wood as the main event. Wood treated with tender loving care. This in addition to the brilliant use of character giving vintage wood from Holland, Denmark and France.
Conversely, Jorge Herrera’s projects stand out for their pure and clean lines, for their open spaces and the ease with which the materials are used to their best advantage. Recall the incredible work he presented in the L’Antic Colonial showroom. The concept of the flagship store was to provide an attractive space in which the client could interact with the products: stone + wood. Herrera harmoniously included both in an architectural concept unique in shop form. Jorge Herrera said: “These spaces are transparent and inspiring, focussed on giving clarity and relevance to different types of flooring and surfaces from the exhibition catalogue where visual contact and customer-product interaction is enhanced. An attractive and inviting space which invites you to immerse yourself in a more complete shopping experience”.
We leave you with a selection of pictures which we hope will help you enjoy this project as much as we do.
