Waking into any space made almost completely of wood gives you the sensation that you are in a special place. Now, imagine breathing in completeZen filled with tranquillity, peace and quiet. What if we told you that you could find all of this in a restaurant? This is made a reality when walking into Nazomi Sushi Bar, in Valencia.

The Project, carried out by the creative consultant Masqueespacio is dominated by a minimalist carpentry, which is handmade withcerejeira wood and oak. Masqueespacio leaves nothing to the imagination, and brings the details of Japanese carpentry to Valencia in a simple and organised manner. A cube in the centre of the first room serves as a reserved area and at the same time creates a hallway on each side of the restaurant that leads to the main dining room. This dining room is a patio with blooming cherry blossom trees. Very typical aspects of Japanese architecture are seen in the continuous flow of the hall and the enclosed spaces of the reserved area meet in this ode of Japanese culture.

The name of the restaurant is inspired by the bullet train in Japan and incorporates the values of punctuality, rigor and professionalism, all of which are characterisedby the famous train. But not only that, ‘Nazomi’ also translates as‘dream fulfilled’, this is faithfully shown by José Miguel Herrera and Nuria Morell, local owners and creatorsof this dream. Therefore, entering Nazomi Sushi Bar in Valencia can be compared to being transported to a Kyoto Street and being involved in the culture.

In the restaurant duality is shown in all components. The features of the logo, as part of the brand image, combine occidental characterswith hiragana (traditionalJapanese writing). We can appreciate this duality, in the interior itself, where thecontrast between the walls and floors of grey tones with natural wood finishes are reflected.

For this reason, this Valencian restaurant, which is not even one year old is a candidate forthe Restaurant and Bar Design Award, awards that are given for outstanding interior design of bars and restaurants around the world.
