Summer makes you want to be outside. The sunny evenings are best spent in the company of friends and on your favourite terrace. If you are one of the ones lucky enough to have your own roof terrace, Wood Lovers encourages you not to waste this unique space. Any new decorative element can help you revitalise this area of your home to give it a completely new look.

A wood for each terrace

Wooden decking is the decorator and interior designers’ favourite. The use of wood on a patio floor gives rise to a setting closer to nature, breaking with the look of the house interior. The use of lighter colours gives the sensation of luminosity whilst darker hues remind us more of the great outdoors. The choice of colour of the wood determines the style of your terrace.

Moving on to the type of wood, pine is one of the most common and economical options to use as decking. With a natural and durable finish, it can stay shiny by applying a specific oil to maintain it. On the other hand, the more exotic woods, even if they are a little more expensive, require very little upkeep. Both pine and the more exotic woods, with regular maintenance, whether they be IPE, which is the most common, or Brazilian teak, will give you a spectacular and long lasting result.

Go with the flow when decorating

If the space you have is too small for decking you can still make the most of it. A simple table and chair set can brighten up your patio and provide you with a refuge to clear your mind. One idea is to decorate using pallets, as we mentioned in an earlier post.

Go with the flow and decorate your garden or terrace to your taste. Place a few pots on your small patio and you’ll achieve an ethnic and very natural look. Or, if you dare, a string of lights to light up the night. Find a way to enjoy your terrace any way you like.
