Carlos Thays said that happiness dwells more on nobleness of a forest than on a luxury without greeness. Fortunately, green is in fashion.
It seems that little by little we begin to become aware of the importance of the small actions in the environment. The ecological tendency in not a novelty anymore, instead it has been incorporated into daily life and sustainable materials gain ground in daily product design.
If any material is sustainable, organic, renewable and versatile material, it is wood. The ecological luxury has arrived.
Glasses
Perhaps the most fashionably rooted wood. There are several companies that offer these type of frames in their catalogues and even there are several companies that just offer wood glasses.
Made from sheets to improve their resistance as Woodys, with treatments that guarantee the protection against sweat and wetness such as Feler or the homemade glass of the Crossed. All these are manufactured in Spain
Watches
WeWood offers watches for all tastes with a huge catalogue. This Italian company only uses recycled wood and also for each watch sold they plant a tree to battle against random logging, their slogan is “You buy a watch. We plant a tree”.
Seats
Wooden seats? It is not a novelty. It is true, but Thestooler is much more than this. This is a new concept that allows the reuse and recycles almost any object and transforms it into a confortable stool. It is made up of four wooden leg joints by ratchet buckles, allowing setting around a large number of items: newspapers, clothes, wooden trunks, and boxes… Begin imagines. This is a project form the designer Andreu Carulla.
Bicycles
We obtain a vehicle close to perfection when we add sustainable manufacturing to an ecological product.
With more than 70 years of experience, Ciclowood, manufactures beautiful natural fibre wooden bicycles, with an extreme attention to detail and finish. As they defend, thanks to this material a durability, flexibility, resistance,
lightness and stability are achieved, ideal features for these vehicles.
Txirbil means “viruta” in Basque language. This name was chosen for the cooperative that shapes Axalco bicycles. These carpenters decided to redirect its traditional activity and begin manufacturing wooden frames for bicycle lovers who seek the beauty and exclusivity that this material offers.
Pollution and gas emissions during the manufacturing of these bicycles are minimum or non-existant, and also produces less inorganic wastes than the conventional bicycles.
Beauty, exclusive design, natural luxury and ecology. What else can you ask for?
